Blow to Britain's nuclear waste plans

Britain's plans to boost its use of nuclear energy and cut greenhouse gas emissions took a hit on Wednesday when the only region interested in hosting an underground waste dump pulled out. The local authority in Cumbria, an area of northern England home to the scenic Lake District and the Sellafield nuclear plant, had expressed an interest in hosting a Pounds 12 billion ($19 billion, 14 billion euro) geological disposal site.
