AREVA NP signed a contract with Southern Nuclear to provide outage services at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Generating Station* units 1 and 2 between 2017 and 2021. Over the course of six outages, AREVA NP will provide refueling, steam generator and specialty non-destructive examination services, inspection and reactor coolant pump services that support the Farley plant in providing carbon-free and reliable electricity to Alabama's grid.

"This contract marks the beginning of a four-year outage services agreement and an important next step in the long-term relationship with the team at Farley," said Craig Ranson, senior vice president of AREVA NP's Installed Base Business Unit in the United States.

"Every day, our focus is on helping our customers maintain and improve the performance of their nuclear energy facilities. With our combined expert teams and advanced technologies, we will help the Farley Nuclear Generating Station achieve diversity of supply while improving operational performance."

Their track record of high quality work demonstrates they will be an effective partner for Farley. This is a key step for Southern Nuclear as we look to build a larger and more diverse supplier base and look for all opportunities to find cost savings."

The Farley Nuclear Generating Station, located near Dothan, Alabama, currently provides more than 20 percent of Alabama Power's electricity. It is owned by Alabama Power and operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Company.
