The center incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as wire-arc additive manufacturing and laser powder bed fusion. These methods allow for the creation of components ranging from a few kilograms to several tens of tons. The additive processes are expected to significantly reduce production lead times and costs while enhancing overall equipment performance and minimizing environmental impact through optimized material use.
Beyond component production, the facility will serve as a hub for research and development, process qualification, and workforce training. Framatome has positioned the center as a cornerstone of its broader strategy to reinforce industrial excellence and supply chain security in critical sectors.

"Additive manufacturing strengthens the sovereignty and competitiveness of strategic sectors in France. Framatome has made it a major pillar of its operations, aiming to improve security of supply and foster innovation in the design of nuclear components."
With over 15 years of additive manufacturing expertise and several successful installations in operating nuclear reactors, Framatome continues to consolidate its leadership in this domain. The investment forms part of a broader development plan to expand operations at Romans-sur-Isere in response to increasing demands across nuclear and defense industries.
