Italy won't identify nuclear power sites till 2011: official

Italy, which plans to reintroduce atomic power after a ban dating from the Chernobyl disaster, will announce sites for new nuclear plants in 2011, an official said Wednesday. German radiation protection officials said Friday that all 126,000 barrels of nuclear waste stored since the 1970s in an unstable and leaking former salt mine would have to be removed as soon as possible. Bulgarian nuclear reactor plugged back into electricity grid

One of two reactors at Bulgaria's nuclear plant at Kozloduy has been plugged back into the electricity grid after being shut down for maintenance last week, the plant's operators said Wednesday.
