Japan starts talks with India on nuclear power
Tokyo (AFP) June 28, 2010
Japan began the first round of talks with India in Tokyo Monday on exporting nuclear power generation technology made by technology giants such as Toshiba and Hitachi, the foreign ministry said. The first round of two-day talks are aimed at devising a treaty to allow cooperation between both sides on peaceful use of nuclear power, but no deadline to reach an agreement has been set. Sweden's parliament on Thursday narrowly passed a landmark government proposal allowing the replacement of nuclear reactors at the end of their life span. China on Thursday defended its nuclear cooperation with Pakistan as peaceful after the United States announced it had sought clarification from Beijing on the sale of two reactors to Islamabad. S.Korea, Turkey sign nuclear power accord

South Korea and Turkey signed an accord Tuesday to cooperate in nuclear energy, raising the hopes of Korean companies that are chasing a deal to build an atomic power plant on the Turkish coast.
