TEPCO Freezing Ground at Fukushima to Curb Contaminated Water Buildup

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is going to freeze the soil around the crippled reactors at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant to prevent a buildup of contaminated water, local media reported Thursday. According to NHK channel, TEPCO, the operator of the damaged power plant, will freeze the soil between reactor buildings, creating a 0.9-mile-long ice wall to prevent groundwater from seeping into the buildings.
