Russian Government Proposes to Increase Security at Nuclear Facilities

The Russian government has introduced a draft bill to the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, aimed at enhancing anti-terrorism provisions at nuclear facilities by establishing security zones with restricted access. The current law stipulates the establishment of special territories, namely sanitary protection zones and surveillance zones, in order to protect local populations in areas surrounding nuclear installations, radiation sources or storage facilities.
