Australia taps Elbit Systems for Blue Force Tracker
by James Laporta
Washington (UPI) Jan 25, 2018

Australia has awarded a contract to Elbit Systems for services in support of the Battle Management System Command and Control, or BMS C2 system.

The deal, announced Thursday by Elbit Systems, is valued at $150 million under the terms of a five-year base period, with built-in options to extend the contract up to seven years if exercised.

The BMS C2, or what is known in the U.S. military as a "Blue Force Tracker," was designed to track the location of friendly units that are sending combat reports to higher command authorities, along with showing the position of other units so that commanders can plan military operations.

The contract taps Elbit Systems to provide "Through Life Support," an industry term that involves maintenance and upkeep of various hardware and software systems. Elbit Systems will support the Australian Defense Force's BMS C2.
