The first flight simulators for F-22 fighters with an immersive 360-degree visual environment have been delivered by Boeing to the U.S. Air Force.

The two simulators are paired with the company's Constant Resolution Visual System that provides "high-resolution imagery for pilots to train with nearly 20/20 acuity," Boeing said.

"Boeing has delivered what are probably the most advanced high-definition flight simulators I have experienced, and they are going to let our pilots realize training unlike any they've had before," said Air Force Col. Anthony Genatempo. "That translates directly into mission readiness."

The training centers delivered were the fourth of five deliveries for the Air Force but the first with the Constant Resolution Visual System. Boeing said previously delivered simulators will be upgraded with the 360-degree capability.

The F-22 training centers are comprised of the simulators, instructional courseware, software and brief/debrief stations.

Boeing, in making the announcement of the simulator delivery, did not disclose the monetary value of the contract under which the units were ordered.
