Elbit Systems Ltd. is supplying is Elsat 2100 mobile satellite-on-the move communications system to Rheinmetall Canada for use by the Canadian military.

Elsat 2100 can be used on a variety of vehicle platforms and provides high data broadband capabilities.

"The SOTM (satellite-on-the-move) contract is an important milestone in our satellite communication activity," said Yehuda (Udi) Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems Land and C4I Division. "The Canadian Armed Forces are technologically advanced and innovative, and I trust that additional customers will follow and select our systems.

"The modern battlefield requires very reliable, high data-rate capabilities to be provided to numerous users simultaneously and in often adverse weather conditions. Our SOTM communication solution meets these rigorous requirements."

Elbit Systems offers a compact antenna system with the Elsat 2100 for communication in Ku, X and Ka frequency bands while using military and commercial satellites.

The number of units ordered was not disclosed but Elbit said the systems would be delivered over an 18-month period. No contract value was given.
