Elisabeth Terrail, Executive Vice President Human Resources at Framatome, expressed the company's enthusiasm for this partnership: "Framatome is delighted to sign this MoU with NCBJ and contribute to supporting Poland's nuclear energy program. Our collaboration will enhance the program, attracting and training students for long-term careers in nuclear energy."
This collaboration aligns with Framatome's commitment to advancing nuclear technology and training future generations of experts in the field. The company, renowned for its expertise in reactor design and servicing, brings to the table a wealth of experience in the development and maintenance of nuclear reactors and related technology.
NCBJ, Poland's foremost institution in nuclear research, shares this vision of fostering advanced nuclear technology and research. Professor Krzysztof Kurek, Director of NCBJ, highlighted the institution's focus: "Without hesitation, our primary focus as a specialist of nuclear physics is the continual pursuit of advanced nuclear technology and research while preparing the young scientists for the future. Our collaboration with Framatome will let us enrich our scientific program for training the professionals of nuclear industry in Poland and maybe conduct a common research project."
The collaboration will involve working on topics of common interest, such as structural mechanics, thermal hydraulics, and European Pressurized Reactor (EPR) technology. EPR, a third-generation pressurized water reactor design developed by Framatome and EDF, is recognized for its advanced safety features and efficiency. The partnership will also focus on safety analyses of nuclear components and systems, crucial for the advancement of safe and efficient nuclear energy solutions.
The MOU includes the provision for lectures and other learning opportunities, joint research initiatives, and internships within Framatome. These initiatives are expected to cultivate a skilled workforce, crucial for the growth and success of Poland's nuclear industry. Poland's interest in expanding its nuclear energy capabilities is part of a broader strategy to diversify its energy sources and reduce its dependence on coal. This makes collaborations like the one with Framatome instrumental in developing the country's nuclear capabilities.
Framatome's commitment to Poland's nuclear energy program is further exemplified by its existing programs with Wroclaw, Warsaw, and Krakow Universities of Technology. These initiatives demonstrate the company's dedication to supporting nuclear education and research, not just in Poland but on a global scale.
