HyPrSpace, a pioneering startup in hybrid propulsion technology, has completed the first bench test of its hybrid rocket engine at the DGA Missile Tests site in Saint-Medard-en-Jalles (Gironde). This milestone is a significant step in validating HyPrSpace's patented hybrid propulsion system and showcases the transition from theoretical models to practical, full-scale applications.

The Terminator engine tests were designed to confirm that HyPrSpace's propulsion technology, backed by the General Directorate of Armament (DGA) and the Defense Innovation Agency, meets the performance predictions of their theoretical models. This achievement also confirms the transition from a prototype to a full-scale operational engine, experimentally proving the technology's reliability and efficiency.

HyPrSpace has also developed key skills in operating a rocket engine with cryogenic fuel, which is crucial for ensuring safe and efficient future launches. The successful validation of their internally developed data acquisition system further supports its effectiveness in real-world conditions.

"This strategic project demonstrates HyPrSpace's ability to provide an innovative, competitive, and responsive access-to-space solution," a representative from HyPrSpace stated. The company is positioning itself as a significant player in the NewSpace sector and launch vehicle market.

The next steps for development include integrating a liquid oxygen (LOX) tank into the engine, adding a thrust vector control (TVC) system, and conducting tests that simulate real space flight conditions. These advancements will bring HyPrSpace closer to finalizing an engine ready for a suborbital mission planned for 2026.
