The Expedition 33 crew aboard the International Space Station began its week with a light-duty day Monday after the departure Sunday of three Expedition 32 crew members.

The Soyuz TMA-04M carrying Expedition 32 Commander Gennady Padalka and Flight Engineers Joe Acaba and Sergei Revin landed safely in Kazakhstan at 10:53 p.m. EDT Sunday (8:53 a.m. Kazakhstan time Monday).

Expedition 32 officially ended when the trio undocked at 7:09 p.m. from the Poisk module. They began their mission when they arrived at the International Space Station May 17 for a total of 123 days on the orbital laboratory.

Flight Engineer Aki Hoshide opened the Lab Window Shutter for the International Space Station Agricultural Camera, or ISSAC, science payload. ISSAC takes frequent images in visible and infrared light of vegetated areas.

ISSAC is also used to study dynamic Earth processes around the world, such as melting glaciers, ecosystem responses to seasonal changes and human impacts, and rapid-response monitoring of natural disasters.

Expedition 33 Commander Suni Williams performed maintenance on the Advanced Resistive Exercise Device, deployed two Environmental Health System Formaldehyde Monitoring Kits and relocated some Soyuz emergency equipment.

Flight Engineer Yuri Malenchenko performed routine servicing of the SOZh environmental control and life support system in the Zvezda service module.

Flight Engineers Kevin Ford, Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin are slated to launch in October aboard the Soyuz TMA-06M to join Expedition 33.
