Three of the world's leading nuclear companies, CH2M HILL, AREVA and Serco, joined forces in a newly-formed consortium - CAS Restoration Partnership - and announced their intent to participate in the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority's (NDA) competition for the Parent Body Organisations (PBO) for Magnox Ltd and Research Sites Restoration Ltd (RSRL).

The NDA's new PBO will oversee management of decommissioning activities at 12 UK historic nuclear sites.

CAS Restoration Partnership brings together the unparalleled United Kingdom and global nuclear operations, site management, decommissioning, and waste management expertise of its three partners.

CH2M HILL is a world leader in nuclear facility decommissioning and environmental restoration with experience on nuclear cleanup programmes around the globe. CH2M HILL has delivered significant value for money to NDA and other large infrastructure programmes and public works initiatives in the United Kingdom.

AREVA is ranked first in the global nuclear power industry, with a unique integrated offering covering every stage of the fuel cycle, nuclear reactor design and construction, and related services.

In addition, AREVA has a large experience of nuclear facility decommissioning in Europe and the United States, with a strong background in the management of spent fuel, including from graphite moderated reactors.

Serco is a FTSE 100 international service company, which combines commercial know-how with a deep public service ethos and over 40 years experience of improving essential services by managing people, processes, technology and assets more effectively.

Lee McIntire, CH2M HILL Chairman and CEO, commented, "Our team is committed to applying our best people and capabilities to execute the important mission of the Magnox-RSRL SLCs.

"This consortium brings an accomplished leadership team and experience in programme management and delivery of some of the United Kingdom's most complex programmes with extensive knowledge of nuclear facility operations and decommissioning."

Dominique Mockly, AREVA Back End Business Group Senior Executive Vice President, said: "AREVA is determined, together with its highly experienced partners, to provide NDA with the very best services, based on our substantial experience in operation and decommissioning of major nuclear sites such as Marcoule (France), Hanford (United States) and Sellafield (United Kingdom)."

Ian Downie, Managing Director of Serco's Strategic Partnerships declared: "We are excited by the combined strength that this international team offers.

Serco brings a real depth of understanding and proven experience of driving value for money for government authorities and the United Kingdom taxpayer."
