Isro's Mangalyaan Completes 100 Days in Mars Orbit

India's Mars Orbiter (Mangalyaan) completed 100 days of its Martian orbit on the New Year's Day 2015 Thursday, space agency officials said. The Mars Orbiter was inserted in Martian orbit September 24, 2014 is in good health, said officials of Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro).

The Mars Orbiter has sent different pictures of the red planet's surface which are being studied by the scientists.

India had sent its Mars Orbiter November 5, 2013 using its own rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). The mission cost around Rs. 450 crore.

Subsequently the Orbiter was inserted in the Martian orbit September 24 last year.

With this mission, India became the first Asian country to send a spacecraft successfully to Mars.
