Kinematics, a leader in intelligent motion systems, has unveiled its latest ground station positioner innovations, the Kinematics KX-6 2.4M class Low Earth Orbit (LEO) positioner, and the KX-3 1M class user terminal positioner, marking a significant leap forward in satellite positioning technology.

The KX-6 Positioner, an advanced 2.4-meter class X-Y zero-backlash system, is engineered for flawless integration into LEO orbits, featuring rapid slewing speeds of up to 16 degrees per second. The KX-3 Positioner, designed for 1-meter class user terminals, delivers exceptional bandwidth and performance benefits of reflector-based antennas, eliminating the need for high costs and complexity.

With a long-standing history in satellite solutions, Kinematics introduces the KX positioner series as a plug-and-play option that reduces time and development expenses. Employing dual motor axes and high-resolution encoders, these systems ensure backlash-free accurate position monitoring and control, facilitating precise and dependable tracking. Both positioners incorporate line replaceable units (LRUs), which are readily accessible for quick maintenance and repairs.

Robin Wessel, VP of Product Management, emphasized the superiority of X-Y designs in modern multi-orbit tracking, highlighting their advantage of no keyholes at zenith. He noted, "With our new Kinematics KX-3 positioner, we offer our advanced KX-6 2.4m class positioner technology in a cost-effective, high-volume user terminal format. Unlike traditional aerospace providers, Kinematics distinguishes itself by delivering satellite positioners using globally cost-competitive manufacturing combined with agile US-based engineering, sales, and customer service."
