Leidos Innovations receives contract for U.S. Navy's undersea warfare system
by Stephen Carlson
Washington (UPI) Aug 4, 2017

Leidos Innovations is receiving a $7.2 million modification to an existing contract for spare parts and support services for the U.S. Navy's AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 undersea warfare system on surface ships.

The modification applies towards the system used by the U.S. Navy and foreign military sales. The work will be conducted in Norfolk, Va. and is expected to be completed by July 2018.

The AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 Surface Ship ASW Combat system is a integrated undersea warfare suite designed to detect, track, provide targeting data and engage enemy submarines, mines and other underwater systems.

It collects data from a variety of sonar systems such as towed-arrays, sonobuoys and other active and passive systems into one sensor picture, allowing better situational awareness and response time. It is designed to integrate and share data with the Aegis Weapons System.

It is used on Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates in foreign service.
