Lockheed Martin and its industry team have delivered the 36th and final F-35 Lightning II for 2014, meeting the year's production goal.

The aircraft was a "C" variant, for use from an aircraft carrier, and was delivered to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The delivery brings the total number of operational F-35 aircraft delivered by the company to the United States and allied nations to 109.

"Meeting U.S. and International aircraft delivery goals is a stepping stone," said Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan, F-35 Program Executive Officer. "It's a global undertaking to build and deliver F-35s. Thousands of men and women produced the 300,000 individual parts from 46 U.S. states and 10 other countries to make these stealth fighters, and they should be proud of their accomplishment."

The U.S. F-35 Joint Program Office on Tuesday gave the breakdown of the 36 aircraft deliveries this year as 23 F-35As to the U.S. Air Force; two F-35As to the Royal Australian Air Force; four F-35Bs to the U.S. Marine Corps; and seven F-35Cs to the U.S. Navy and Marines.

"Delivering the most F-35s in program history is a clear demonstration of our growing stability and ability to ramp up production," said Lorraine Martin, Lockheed Martin F-35 Program general manager.
