Lockheed Martin orders weapons stabilization system

Curtiss-Wright Corp. is to supply a weapons stabilization system for Britain's new Scout specialist vehicles under a contract from Lockheed Martin.

The production award to the Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions division is worth $49 million and follows the company's demonstration phase, valued at $13 million.

"Curtiss-Wright is proud to have been selected by Lockheed Martin to provide our electro-mechanical aiming and stabilization system for use on the Scout Reconnaissance vehicle," said David C. Adams, Chairman and CEO of Curtiss-Wright. "As a leader in the design and development of rugged turret drive systems for military vehicles, we are pleased to participate in this important program for the U.K's. Ministry of Defense."

Curtiss-Wright's Turret Drive Servo System will be manufactured at Curtiss-Wright's Drive Technology business in Neuhausen, Switzerland. Deliveries of the system to Lockheed Martin for integration into the vehicles are to begin this year and continue through 2021.
