General Dynamics was awarded a contract for services in support of the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement program. The deal, announced Thursday by the Department of Defense, is valued at $11.9 million under the terms of a firm-fixed-price modification to previous award contract. The agreement between General Dynamics and the Navy provides options for ship enhancements for onboard electronic warfare countermeasures in order to provide early detection, analysis, threat warning and protection from incoming anti-ship missiles. Work on the contract will occur in Massachusetts, California, and Virginia, with an expected completion date of October 2019, the Pentagon said. The full contract award will be obligated to General Dynamics from Navy fiscal 2017 other procurement funds along with fiscal 2015 and 2017 shipbuilding and conversion funding. The funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
