The Russian Soyuz space capsule carrying Russian, Canadian and US spacemen successfully docked with the ISS on Friday with Roman Romanenko, Chris Hadfield and Thomas Marshburn safely floating inside the space outpost.

The trio joined NASA astronaut Kevin Ford and Russian flight engineers and cosmonauts Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin to work on board the space laboratory until March next year.

US station to receive signals from Russian observatory
The American station Green Bank will receive signals from a Russian observatory located on board the Spektr-R orbital station.

Until recently, signals sent by a Russian space telescope were received by a tracking station in Pushchino outside Moscow.

As the observatory was beyond the station's visibility range more than half the time, scientists were unable to carry out observations all the time.

The American station will start to receive signals from Spektr-R in January.
