New encased wide-area motion imagery sensor system announced

Logos Technologies LLC reports it has developed a lightweight, pod-encased wide-area motion imagery sensor system for use on aircraft.

The system, named Redkite, is housed in an aerodynamic pod that weighs just 35 pounds, can image about 2.48 square miles at the same time and perform all the image processing on board.

"Redkite will be an invaluable tool for law enforcement, firefighters, search-and-rescue teams and other users," said John Marion, president of Logos Technologies. "No longer will they have to depend solely on traditional narrow-field video cameras."

Logos said the new wide-area motion imagery sensor allows users to open and watch more than 10 video streaming windows at once within the monitored area. Users can also designate other areas as "watchboxes" -- the sensor gives an alert if activity is detected there.

"Wide-area video imagery collected and geographically tagged in real time is also indexed thanks to Redkite's sophisticated processing algorithms," the company said. "Operators can later access this archive in order to trace related events over time."
