Nigeria acquiring light attack aircraft from Brazil

The Nigerian Air Force says the Brazilian government has given Embraer Defense and Security permission to sell Nigeria pre-owned attack aircraft.

The three aircraft are Super Tucano A-29s.

The air force said the light attack aircraft would boost its operational capabilities in tackling insurgents in the country.

The Super Tucano is a turboprop light attack aircraft for close air support of ground troops and reconnaissance missions. It can also be used as a pilot trainer. It has a maximum speed of 367 miles per hour and a combat radius of 342 miles.

The Brazilian air force will transfer the aircraft to Embraer for transfer to Nigeria after completing legal procedures.
