Northrop Grumman to provide navigation services to Navy
by James Laporta
Washington (UPI) Jan 8, 2018

The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman a contract for field and marine repair services for navigation and nautical systems, including task orders already issued for work on two vessels.

The contract, announced Friday by the Department of Defense, is worth more than $30 million under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity, performance based, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, which is a cost-reimbursement deal that could potentially provide Northrop Grumman with additional funds, depending on the fee negotiated before the contract was awarded.

The Pentagon said Northrop Grumman will provide repair services for the AN/WSN-7 Inertial Navigation System, the AN/WSN-7A Ring Laser Gyro Navigation Systems, and the AN/WSN-7B Ring Laser Gyrocompass, as well as other ancillary commercial equipment.

The contract covers a five-year ordering period. Northrop Grumman will be given more than $992 thousand for task order contracts for the USS Hyman G. Rickover, a Virginia-class submarine, and the future USS John F. Kennedy, which will be the second Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier, set to be commissioned in 2020.

Work on the contract will occur in Virginia and is expected to be completed by January 2024.
