Polish Army vehicles getting Rolls-Royce engines
Washington (UPI) Sep 21, 2017 - Rolls-Royce AG is to supply MTU series 106 engines to Polish vehicle manufacturer Jelcz beginning this year.

The 500 engines will power Jelcz's four-wheel drive 442.32 all-terrain vehicles for the Polish Army, Rolls-Royce said. Nine hundred of the series 106 engines are already powering vehicles in operation with Poland's Army.

"We are delighted at having succeeded, once again, in convincing Jelcz of the benefits of MTU engines," Knut Müller, head of Marine and Government Business at MTU, said in a press release. "The fact that Jelcz has now ordered a total of 1,400 of our engines for its vehicles is proof positive of the superb, close collaboration between our two companies."

Rolls-Royce said its type 6R 106 TD21 is a six-cylinder engine. It features high-power density and simplicity of maintenance. It is also unaffected by electro-magnetic impulses and can run on aviation fuel if necesary.

Oshkosh Defense has received a $466.8 million modification to an existing contract for the production of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles for the U.S. Army.

The procurement, announced Wednesday by the Department of Defense, will be determined by individual orders and is expected to be finished by Aug. 25, 2018. It will be for vehicles designed under the A1P2 technical data package.

The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles is a series of armored tactical cargo trucks. Variants of the platform are used for troop and equipment transport, vehicle recovery and other tasks in a utility role.

The cabs of the trucks are fully armored with bullet and shrapnel resistant plates, and ballistic glass for the windshield and windows for crew protection.

The A1P2 variant of the FMTV is the standard cargo version of the truck for moving equipment and supplies.

Newbegin Enterprises receives contract for online military vehicle parts ordering
Washington (UPI) Sep 21, 2017 - Newbegin Enterprises has been awarded a $90.5 million contract for an internet-based contractor-run parts store for U.S. Air Force vehicles.

The contract, announced Wednesday by the Department of Defense, calls for the provision of vehicle parts, chemicals and accessories for up to 6,500 vehicles over the next five years in the Central Command area of operations.

The countries involved include Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Syria and Lebanon.

NEI specializes in providing original equipment manufacturer automotive parts for a variety of civilian and military customers. They function as an "Amazon" for vehicle parts with online ordering and shipping. They already have existing contracts with every branch of the U.S. armed forces.

Central Command is the largest command of the U.S. military and is responsible for operations in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, among other locations.
