Brussels (AFP) Nov 9, 2010
World powers will respond soon to Iran's proposal for a resumption of talks on its nuclear programme, a spokeswoman for European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Tuesday.

Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili proposed a date and venue for the talks in a letter to Ashton, who spearheads talks on behalf of Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States,

"I can confirm receipt of the letter. We will now discuss the details and proposals with our... partners and respond to Dr Jalili in the coming days," a spokeswoman for Ashton said.

"I cannot go into details of the letter, but there are some proposals put forward by Iran" which would be considered, the spokeswoman said.

The six powers have proposed that talks could start on November 15 in Vienna.
