Littoral and overland surveillance radars for use of P-8A Poseidon aircraft are to be produced by Raytheon for the U.S. Navy under a $153 million award.

The contract is for a total of 53 AN/APY-10 radars, which deliver information in all weather conditions for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare missions and for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

The AN/APY-10 features a dedicated periscope detection mode, long-range detection and classification of maritime targets, and synthetic aperture for overland surveillance.

"The AN/APY-10 is a product of our nearly five decades of experience in developing and delivering innovative maritime and overland surveillance radars," said Jerry Powlen, vice president of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems for Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems business. "We look forward to working with the U.S. Navy to deliver this system now and into the future."

Raytheon said it has so far delivered 36 of 58 AN/APY-10 radars previously ordered by the U. S. Navy.

The new order for 53 additional systems are to meet the requirement of the Navy's P-8A fleet and also for the Royal Australian Air Force.
