Russia's Progress M-11M space freighter on Friday readjusted the orbit of the International Space Station by 3.5 km, a spokesman for Russia's Mission Control said.

"The adjustment was conducted by docking and orientation engines of the Progress M-11M cargo spacecraft, which is docked with the Zvezda module. The engines were turned on for about 1850 seconds and increased the average height of the ISS orbit by 3.5 km, to approximately 380 km," the spokesman said.

Corrections to the space station's orbit are conducted periodically before launches of Russian cargo ships and U.S. shuttles to compensate for the Earth's gravity and to safeguard successful dockings. The previous correction of the station's orbit was conducted on Wednesday.
