Saab reports U.S. Army order for radio systems

The U.S. Army has ordered more radio systems that boost communication capabilities during training exercises from the U.S. subsidiary of Saab of Sweden.

The contract for the Live Training Transformation Interim Range System. or LT2-IRS, was issued by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office of Simulation, Training and Instrumentation and is worth $10.9 million.

Saab Defense and Security USA LLC said the radio system will be used at Fort Lewis-McChord in Washington State and at U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoeh in Germany.

"Saab's continued partnership and commitment to our U.S. Army Customer is key to providing a stable product line to support U.S. Army Live Training for years to come," said Cyndi Turner, vice president and general manager of the SDAS Training and Simulation Business Unit.

Saab said its U.S. subsidiary is fielding communication network systems to the United States worth a total $67 million to enable soldiers to engage in instrumented force-on-force training at the home stations.

No information was given as to when the new systems ordered will be delivered.
