Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi may sign an agreement with Russia's state company Rosatom to build two nuclear power units in Egypt during his visit to Russia at the end of August, the Al-Masri Al-Yaoum news portal reported Monday, citing a Egyptian official.

The Egyptian president is expected to visit Russia on August 25-27. During his visit, the president will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss various bilateral issues, a statement released by the Kremlin said Thursday.

"A delegation of Russian experts is currently in Egypt making the latest additions to the contract and preparing it for the upcoming visit of President Abdel Fattah Sisi to Russia, in order to add it to the list of agreements that will be signed during the visit," Ibrahim Asiri, the adviser to Egypt's energy minister, said, as cited by the media outlet.

According to the adviser, the cost of building the two power units is estimated at approximately $5 billion. Under the terms of the contract, Russia will build the facilities at its own expense and Egypt will repay the debt within two years of the nuclear power plant starting operations.

Russia will also supply nuclear fuel to Egypt, if the deal is signed, according to information contained in the article.

Following the visit of Russian leader Putin to Egypt in February 2015, the sides agreed to increase military, trade, security and economic cooperation.

The two countries signed an agreement in February on Rosatom's participation in the construction of Egypt's first nuclear power plant. In June, the Russian state-run atomic energy agency submitted a business proposal on the construction of the plant in Egypt to President Sisi.
