Space for Humanity website is live! This platform has expanded the application process to both video and written applications, features a new astronaut portal and a social impact portal, and a number of additional ways to participate.

"Space for Humanity has completely re-designed the way users engage with the team, allowing for a more meaningful application process," remarks Todd Youngblood, Space for Humanity's Director of Technology.

"We're in the process of rolling out new tools that will help support applicants, advisors, and partners. We are putting a great deal of effort into how we will manage post-flight missions for social impact."

Following their flight, each Space for Humanity Citizen Astronaut will carry out an individual social impact project - with a focus on one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, giving each individual the freedom to choose how they will make their mark following their spaceflight.

"This was a no-brainer for us, as it allows us to hone in on projects that are vital to the wellbeing of our world, and have a clear, measurable impact," says Rachel Lyons, Executive Director of Space for Humanity.

The new website portals will allow the organization to have all people inspired by the mission - whether or not they will be flying to space - to be involved in Space for Humanity's global mission.

"Our long term goal outlined in the new technology plan is to create a welcoming, inclusive community where space enthusiasts and social impact advocates can come together to collaborate and share," says Youngblood.

The most important news? Space for Humanity will no longer be taking applications on a rolling basis. The applications will be closing on March 31, 2019, and re-opening to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing on July 20, 2019.
