Biodiesel is now available via truckload from Renewable Energy Group's new biodiesel location in Rancho Dominguez outside of Long Beach. The first truckload of biodiesel was picked up by Whole Energy, a regional distributor and retailer with locations in Washington, Oregon and California.

"Whole Energy is committed to biodiesel, helping Californians meet their carbon reduction goals, and offering supply for Oregon and Washington blending requirements," said Gary Haer, VP Sales and Marketing at Renewable Energy Group (REG).

"REG's terminal agreement with Maxum Petroleum expands the opportunity for West Coast distributors like Whole Energy to blend biodiesel for public and private diesel fleets."

"We are excited about the opportunity to offer biodiesel from the nation's largest biodiesel producer and marketer in California," said Atul Deshmane, Whole Energy's CEO/President.

"Whole Energy is committed to a multi-region approach for offering biodiesel blends for fleets and consumers who are looking to go green, enhance performance and protect the earth with a sustainable fuel."

"REG biodiesel has demonstrated both great performance and carbon intensities," said Deshmane. "REG recently registered its REG Seneca (Illinois) plant with CARB in accordance with LCFS and REG-9000 biodiesel from that location has a carbon intensity as low as 4.0 gCO2e/MJ, according to CARB.

Biodiesel is a drop-in, advanced biofuel for use in any diesel engine application. REG-9000 branded biodiesel is produced from natural oils, fats and greases and meets or exceeds ASTM quality specifications for biodiesel

EU changes tack on biofuels on greenhouse gas concerns
Brussels (AFP) Sept 11, 2012

In 2009, the EU fixed a target for renewables to account for 20 percent of all the bloc's energy consumption and 10 percent in the transport sector, with biofuels set to play a growing role.
